Currently reading
- I'm working through the biographies Lincoln, by David Herbert Donald and Grant, by Ron Chernow. I'm reading chapters in chronological conjunction with each other. Visiting the General Grant National Memorial on the Upper West Side is on my bucket list when I'm finished, as I will by then have the capacity to better appreciate it.
Recently Finished & Recommended
- I recently finished Furious Minds: The Making of the MAGA New Right, by Laura Feld, a broad intellectual history of conservatism 2000-present, both traditional and fringe.
- I try to read at least one great biography a year, and in 2025 I completed Einstein: His Life and Universe, by Walter Isaacson. Isaacson demonstrates a capacity for providing good insight into his life as well as making his speculative scientific theories accessible to a novice such as myself.
What I'm drawing
Pen and ink, with occasional dabbling in watercolors, acrylic paint markers, block-printing: Lovecraftian horror, Tolkien-inspired fantasy, skulls, and pretty nature scenes. Hand-drawn, no AI.
